Sally is experienced in helping singers at every level. She has run Master Classes for young opera singers in California, at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, as well as at summer schools in Florence and Malta, and in Scotland, Skyros, Greece, and the South of France, she has run courses for beginners. She has also given specialist weekend courses in singing baroque music. She believes that every voice is capable of improvement and loves helping people to find out more about what their voice is capable of. Sally has discovered that singing is always an instinctive expression and a primal release. Whatever your standard, the principles don’t change.
Sally has had a career as a professional singer who achieved a considerable reputation, notably in early opera. She recorded the name part in Handel’s “Agrippina” for Harmonia Mundi. The record was Sunday Times Record of the Year. She appeared in opera, concerts and recordings in four continents. She is notably versatile, for example she has sung and recorded contemporary pieces written for her by such composers as Judith Weir and Harold Skempton, recorded Debussy songs, and performed several Wagner roles as well as singing classical phrases on several high profile rock music recordings. In fact she appeared recently with The Pet Shop Boys in the Albert Hall, London in a reprise of some of her work with them. Her words and music concerts with actors are ongoing and she recently completed a tour with Archbishop Rowan Williams.
